 s\, efforts to stem the tide of new marine invasions focused on ballast wa
 ter exchange and treatment. Nonetheless\, established invasive species pop
 ulations are expanding their ranges and the rate of introduction is likely
  to increase. The role of hull fouling in spreading marine species has bee
 n underestimated\, but climate-related impacts\, such as increased sea tem
 peratures\, ocean acidification\, changes in salinity and habitat alterati
 ons also contribute to expanding ranges and new introductions. This talk r
 eviews changes observed in local populations and challenges the engineerin
 g community to develop innovative approaches to antifouling coatings.\n\n<
 i>We encourage attendees to bring their lunch to the seminar. The seminar
