Nonetheless\, established invasive speci es populations are expanding their ranges and the rate of introduction is likely to increase. The role of hull fouling in spreading marine species h as been underestimated\, but climate-related impacts\, such as increased s ea temperatures\, ocean acidification\, changes in salinity and habitat al terations also contribute to expanding ranges and new introductions. This talk reviews changes observed in local populations and challenges the engi neering community to develop innovative approaches to antifouling coatings .\n\nWe encourage attendees to bring their lunch to the seminar. The semin ar is open to the public. Please pass this announcement along to intereste d parties. Questions can be sent to KBaltes@mit.edu.
